You may now check on the status of Oregon tax refunds on the DOR website. From now through September 30, 2008, current year refund information is available.
This will allow 24 hour access to this information and provides toll free access for out of state taxpayers. The automated phone system is still available as in past years for those who do not have computer access. That number in the Salem area is 503-378-4988 or toll free throughout the rest of Oregon at 1-800-356-4222. Tax Services Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5:10 p.m. to answer specific inquiries. If it's been at least four weeks since you filed your income tax return, the Oregon automated telephone answering system can provide information about your current year income tax refund. You will need three pieces of information from your return to use this system:
If your tax return has been processed , the system will tell you when your tax refund will be mailed. If the system tells you your return information is not available, it does not mean they haven't received your return, only that it is still being processed. Don't file another return. Please allow another week and call again. For information about tax-to-pay returns, amended returns, or returns for years other than 2004, call one of the numbers above during business hours and speak to a representative. Oregon does not report the status of tax returns over the Internet due to the possibility of disclosing confidential information.
